SmartE and Mahindra Electric Partnership

Gurgaon based SmartE which is India’s first and largest electric mobility service, offering connectivity to tens of thousands of commuters every day has partnered with Mahindra Electric to deploy 10,000 electric three-wheelers across the country by 2020. Under this collaboration, SmartE will introduce 1000 Mahindra Treo and Treo Yaari electric three-wheelers in Delhi NCR by March 2019. The basic aim of this partnership is to transform last mile connectivity especially in urban cities. The partnership will also play an important role in making the last mile commute eco-friendly besides making it more convenient and safe. SmartE has already built captive EV charging network for 800 vehicles simultaneously and will be ramping it up further to bolster 1,000 vehicles in Delhi. The company will cross 2,000 mark by March 2019 and would help ferry 200,000 commuters per day
In 2017, Mahindra Electric had launched its first lithium ion electric three-wheeler range Treo and Treo Yaari. SMartE plans to roll out around 100,000 vehicles by 2022. The company has an already ongoing partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation where the company launched 1000 Electric Rickshaws in Gurgaon in 2017. The vehicles which are completely ‘Made in India’ are stacked with features including GPS tracking and sensors. The vehicles are outlined keeping passengers safety and comfort in mind. The company has priced its service with fares starting at Rs 10 for first two kilometers and Rs 5/km thereafter. The company affirms that it will help reduce close to a million tons carbon emissions which is equal to planting 17 million tons per year. SmartE also has its plans on strategic expansion to have network across India.
