Cadillac has introduced the new XT5 with a minor makeover and a major technical upgrade for 2020. To keep up with the fierce competition in the SUV industry, the compact SUV has been tweaked with a new look, new powertrain option, and a wide gamut of technology. The interiors have been revamped with new color themes and trims, and a redesigned center console that has been modified to better hold phones, cups, and other items. The external appearance has seen subtle changes with a hint of sheet-metal sharpening that resembles the look of the new XT6. The premium LED headlamps will now be standard for all cars, sitting on the edges of a new mesh grille.
The XT5 has been armed with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which can deliver 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque in the direction of the anterior wheels through a standard nine-speed automatic transmission with the option of an all-wheel-drive available. Buyers will also have a choice to upgrade to a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which will boost the power to 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is standard equipment on a new Sport trim level featuring an adaptive damper suspension and a Sport All-Wheel Drive system, with a torque-vectoring, twin-clutch posterior differential that gives better power delivery and steadiness while cornering. The car also has more standard safety features including forward collision alert with low-speed automatic braking, pedestrian detection for front and rear, and Intellibeam automatic high-beam lighting.
Looking at the technological upgrade, firstly, the dashboard will include an 8-inch version of Cadillac and GM’s Infotainment 3.5 system along with a new “jog wheel” easily accessible on the center console. The new software is a massive improvement than the old one, with an intuitive interface and quick response times. The car will also have newly available night vision, better surround-view camera systems, and improved rear camera mirror among other features. The updated XT5 2020 is set to enter the market late summer this year.
